Hey everyone there is a little wave out there, the most action we have seen in a week! The surf is about waist high and a little bigger on some sets. Definatly a good day to sneak out for a quick half hour surf!

Hey everyone great day on the beach here today, the water is an astounding 67 degrees, and there is a hurricane off the coast of Florida as we speak! The surf is about half a meter today, that's half a yard stick for you with half a brain, so it'll be a good day for a longboard session at a secret spot or a SUP anywhere!

Surf Camp Mon-Fri $30- 1 hour, board, suit, and instructor open to public, call to book a spot!

Happy 4th of July everyone!!!!!

Happy Independence day gang!!!!! I mean holy shit what a day for a celebration. As i sit down to write my blog today, I can't help but notice the sand in my toes and the smell of the ocean capturing memories of my childhood at the beach on the 4th. If you are reading this at work today, I am very sorry and you need to find a damn good excuse to get the hell outta there.

Todays blog spot is being brought to you live from the Surfing bagel down at salisbury beach. We are enjoying a beautiful 85 degree day with a water temp of 67 and a super light and warm sse wind. We will be here today till at least 7. As for the surf, there is minimal ankle to knee high wind swell. What that means though is that it is a great day for a paddle. I know that there are a lot of people out there that are still not sold on the new craze of SUP's, and honestly I was one of you at one point too. What I have come to realize over the last few weeks of no surf is that it is still better to be on the water than sitting on your couch. If you are looking for a new form of exercise and hate the gym, then do what I have done and make it the ocean. Stand ups are not only great exercise, but they are also a great form of stress relief. There are no problems in the world or in life when you are out on the water, so if this holiday weekend has put you in a "mood" then get your ass down to the beach and get out on the water.

In other news, we have the biggest surf art and music fest on the Eastern seaboard taking place this weekend with the likes of Howie Day and Donavon Frankenreiter headlining the music. We are also going to have world famous surf artist Jay Alders here signing prints and showing off his work. But the big news of that weekend is that we are going to be featuring the work of mainly local artists and musicians. The line up will include local music from:

Hey everyone today the surf is small, shin high at best. There is a ride-able long board wave out there! High tide is at 10:45am and 10:47pm low tide will come around 4:52am and 4:49pm. The water is sticking at 62 degrees today.

We are pretty busy here at the shop these days, we are loading up for the 4th of July Weekend! Make sure you come by to hang and watch surf movies, talk shop, or find your magic board! Surf Lessons are available everyday! Surf Camp is Monday-Friday and private lessons must be booked at least 24 hours in advance!

The Linda Jo Memorial Fundraiser walk was successful even with the storm delay. Thank you for everyone who helped and participated, and showed up both days! If you would still like to make donations we are accepting them at Zapstix Surf Shop in Seabrook Beach NH, and The Surfing Bagel Co.

The ABPA race that was called off because of thunder storms will be filled into the schedule on the APBA website http://www.atlanticpaddleassoc.org/. The next race is scheduled for Saturday July 9th!

Good Morning folks. Wow what a day outside! I got to start my week off right with a killer paddle from the Surfing Bagel down to the Merrimac River mouth and back. It was as good as it gets out there and right now isn't that much different. If you want to go for a SUP today call me here at the shop and we can get you out front on Seabrook Beach, or set you up in Salisbury. Either way it is just a perfect day to go play in the water. Right now we have glassy thigh to waist high sets depending on your spot. The wind is coming out of the WSW and will shift to east at 5mph around noon. The air temp is going to hit 80 and we are loking at a sunny day all day! The light onshore will offer you a cool breeze but will not affect your paddle or surf. Right now the water is WARM. I was in trunks this morning and it felt great. I would suggest a 2mm top and trunks today if you surf and just trunks if you paddle.

Right now at the shop we are fully stocked with all your beach needs. We have chairs, umbrellas, floats, tubes, footballs, sunscreen and anything else you can think of. We have a full selection of blaster boogie boards ranging from $45-$89. If you fancy the boogie then come on down and check em out. We are also fully geared up with Electric, Dragon and Smith sunglasses and we also have a plethora of long sk8's starting at $99. Basically what I am trying to say, is that we here at Zapstix, have EVERYTHING you could possibly need to get out and enjoy this beautiful summer day.

Hey everyone today there is a little bump out there about waist high with some chest high sets comming through. High tide is at 8:30 pm and low tide was at 2:28 pm.

We would like to thank everyone who helped out with The Linda Jo Memorial walk that was postponed until this morning. We raised a good amount of money all going toward cancer research studies. Thank you for everyone that showed up yesterday and was unable to make it this morning too!

Good afternoon folks. Surf today is choppy knee high wind swell with an ENE wind at about 10-mph. We have a high tide at 6 pm with a water temp around 63.

This Saturday kicks off the summer with the Sand and Sea Festival at Salisbury Beach. We start the day off right with the 1st annual Linda Jo Memorial walk here at the shop. To sign up please be here at 9 am and have a donation of $25. All proceeds go to benefit ovarian cancer research and underprivileged children. The walk will kick off at 9:30 and proceed 3 miles down the beach to the Surfing Bagel. Upon arrival, we will sound the horn for our second out of six paddle board races set up by the Atlantic Paddle Board Association. http://www.atlanticpaddleassoc.org/index.html

Other activities throughout the day are going to include a paddle board tug of war and noodle battle. We are also going to have paddle board rentals and lessons taking place all day long.

In other news, the NorthEast Surf, Art and Music Festival is taking place from July 8-10 on Salisbury Beach. Hey everyone today is Wednesday June 22. The surf is small just about knee high at best. The tide is high at 5:16 pm and low tide is at 11:15am. The water temp is 61° F. Great day to go stand-up paddle boarding!

Even though we don't have any surf, it doesn't mean that you can't get out on the water. We are officially geared up with Standup Paddle Boards, both here at the shop and down at The Surfing Bagel on Salisbury Beach. We offer 1/2 and full day rentals, as well as private and group lessons. I Will be going out for a paddle with some friends at 3 today, so if you are interested, swing by and we will get you all set up with everything you need. If you can't make it today, you are more than welcome to swing by either shop at anytime and get all set up. Right now in the shop, we have Doyle boards starting at $799. They are great beginner or cruiser boards. Dense foam topsheet with solid fiberglass bottom will keep you going all day long. For you more serious paddlers out there, we have the top of the line CoreBan boards in all shapes and sizes. They are starting at $1,200 and run up from there.

This Saturday and Sunday is the Sand and Sea Festival on Salisbury Beach. We are Starting Saturday off with the most important event. The 1st annual Linda Jo Memorial Walk. This is a walk to raise money for underprivileged children and Ovarian cancer research. You can pre-register by emailing Teresa at teresa_quinn6@comcast.net or you can also register with us Saturday morning at 9 am sharp at the shop. The walk starts at 9:30 from Zapstix and is 3 miles on the beach to the Surfing Bagel. It is a $25 entry fee with all proceeds going to the Linda Jo Memorial Fund.

We are following up the walk with the second heat of our paddle Battle Race Series. For those of you who don't know, with the help of local business man Wayne Capolupo, we were able to start up the Atlantic Paddle Board Association. It is the first governing body of it's kind, and we are all super stoked on what this will bring to the sport. You can check out the race details and events at atlanticpaddlebattle.com The best part is that if you can't make it to Saturdays race, we are taking the best of your four times to determine the winner. So that means that you still have the next four races to get up here and make a name for your self. I mean, with a $5,000 cash purse, you'd be kinda insane not to get up here and show your stuff. Good Morning folks, Happy first day of summer!!! Wow what an epic day to start it off with, I mean what else could we ask for? Oh I know, waves. Unfortunately, today is not the best day for surf. We are looking at minimal ankle to shin high conditions throughout today and into tomorrow. The winds are light out of the west and we have a high tide at 4:30 PM. Water temp is a balmy 62 with an air temp of around 80.

Even though we don't have any surf, it doesn't mean that you can't get out on the water. We are officially geared up with Standup Paddle Boards, both here at the shop and down at The Surfing Bagel on Salisbury Beach. Surf Report:
The surf is about knee to waist high at best today, High tide coming in around 10 o'clock am and low tide at about 4 o'clock if your still stooked on the surf after the last week of real good surf its doable. The wind seems to be putting a little texture on it coming out of the east/south/ maybe a little more east in their.
Shop Update:
In The shop right now 4 brand new Coreban S.U.P.s one already walked out the door yesterday. The shop is loading up on our sup gear so anything you need or can think of to fill your supping needs come check us out.
Memorial day weekend Get ready, make sure your equipment is good because the APBA (Atlantic Paddle Board Assosiation) and Zapstix is starting the Sup Racing series, with 4-5 races over the summer their will be 5,000$ purse for the whole series. Keep posteed for more information on the series

Wensday Surf Report 5/5/11

Moring Still a little surf out their peaking at about waist high, medium period swell with occasional stomach sets. Surfed it this morning and the water is getting really warm about 49, rocked a 4/3mm and hardley wore my hood on my head.

In the shop we have longskates for summer on sale for only 99 bucks, as well as plenty of new roxy girls clother and Ergo guys clothing. New Orders coming in dailey here at the shop.

Let's get excited! Fun little waves this morning, a little over waist high on the sets. Surf may decrease as the day progresses. High tide at 5:53am and 6:42pm with Low tide at 12:39pm. Look for surf from Wednesday through to the weekend. Water temp is 42 degrees, doable in a 4/3 with hood, boots and gloves.

Hey guys today the surf is super tiny about shin high. High tide at 3:41pm and low at 9:41am and 9:54 pm. The surf may be small and nonexistent now but this last weekend was a load of fun.

Surf is about 3-4 foot and messy, with a pretty hard on shore wind knockin it down out their. But the weekend is looking promising with a chest to head high (possibly bigger) swell showing its face today we should get some clean or semi clean surf this weekend.

Team Zapstix getting at it in the Dominican Republic! The surf has been small the last two days, good for a fish or a longboard. It was pumping before it got small, the last swell we had seemed to line up and we had good winds too. Stoked to be down here training, surfing, and living the tranquilo Domi lifestyle..

As far as home goes looks like we are in a flat spell, might as well come down and join us down here on the island, just dont kook out n get voted off!

Today the surf is small and super stormy. Not a great day to surf, better to go riding on the mountain. Look for waves mid week next week. Wednesday looks like its gonna be big, get your step-up boards ready, whether it's ding repair, or a new stick come by the shop and we'll get you stoked. Conditions are chest to shoulder high plus on the sets and clean. High tide is 11:15am and low is around 5:40pm.   Winds are WNW 5-10mph. Water temp is around 40 degree's an air temps are 19 degree's. Swell will most likely fade through the day, so go get some well you can.

Wow, what a day yesterday. Solid head high, pumping and barrel after barrel.   Nobody around, Zap and I just trading waves and yelling out at the sky. We called it "Getting Even,"!!!!   Zap could of taken on Kelly yesterday and won. The only one who caught up with us was team rider Jarred Velstos. That's because he spotted the Van hidden, out of the corner of his eye.

Today the surf is fun waist to chest, with the occasional head high set, definatly a good day for the fish. Low tide is at 11:55 am and high is at 5:46pm. The wind is offshore and the swell will diminish by the end of the day. Make sure your on it early.

As far as surf for the rest of the week it looks like we are not getting any, that is untill tuesday night, wednesday morning. Looks like this next swell may stick around longer than the last, lets hope so!!

Well its been very flat so far this new year, but we are not expecting that to continue after tomorrow. The should be a rideable wave all weekend, get out if you can. The water is super cold comming in at a whopping 41 degrees. The today are low at 7:11 am and high at 1:04 pm.

Conditions are double over head storm surf. Wind are NNE at 30+ mph. Winds should switch to NW this afternoon. Low tide is 9:50am and high tide is around 3:50pm. Water temps remain in the low 40's and the air temp is around 26 degree's. Please use extreme caution surfing winter swell. Stay on it today, some spots may start to work.

The surf is still fun today! Solid waist high and clean. The tides are high at 11:11 am and low at 5:57 pm. The surf is most likely going to carry over to tomorrow monring but it will diminish tomorrow around noon.

Today is December 6th 2010, it has been exactly a year since Linda passed away. Everyday we think about her, she is always in our thoughts. Linda is greatly loved and missed!!!!!

Donavon Frankenreiter Tonight at The Paradise Boston

This was a shot I took of Donny before he went on stage at "The Life Is Good Festival" this past September. Man what a killer time we had hanging out back stage with the band.

Eric Brigmond, key boards and trumpet player in Donavon's band has also become good friends with the Zapstix crew. Look for Eric to appear this winter at Zapstix surf camp DR to perform with Pat Hall and Friends.

Surf is starting to clean up and the sun is trying to shine through!! Right now as of 1pm we are looking at head high sets with the wind calming down and warm air flowing in. Just got a report that up north is going off and once the tide backs out a little more, out front should be great. So stop checking the reports and cams and just trust me on this one......GO SURFING!!!!!

Well gang right now we are looking at chest to head high surf out front that is cleaning up as we speak. The winds are coming from the WSW with more of a SW by late afternoon. The tide is full right now so you are going to want to wait a few hours to get wet. I was hoping to get a few rides in this am, but with the tides and the wind on in earlier I wasn't so lucky. There is the afternoon and I will be getting out there at some point today and I suggest you do the same!! I'll keep you updated on the latest conditions throughout the day, but like I said chest to head high and cleaning up, that means go get some!!

We have everything you could need at the shop from warm winter hats for after surf sessions to the coldest of cold water wax and everything in between. It is hood weather and we have plenty of those in stock too. As always we also have all your boot and glove needs and if you have been putting off that 4/3 purchase, well now is the time to do it. there is going to be surf all weekend long and potentially into next week so you are going to need your new rubber. I am at the shop from 11-4/5 depending on how the surf looks this afternoon. Just give me a buzz and make sure I am there if you need anything.

WAVES

Right now there are choppy chest high sets rolling in more of a storm surge than anything right now, but there are waves on tap for at least the next three days. Tomorrow we should be starting our day with chest to head plus sets and building. By afternoon we are going to be looking at head + for the remainder of the day and into Saturday. Sunday looks to be shoulder high all day. The winds tomorrow will be WNW and the tides full at 10 am with a low at 4:48 pm. The tides only pushing up a foot so it will be right on time. The winds look like they might shift to NNW on Saturday so you might need to find a little more protection. Venturing up the coast might not be a bad idea on Saturday, and for Sunday, well just stay put because I am calling chest to 1.5x over head all day with a wind right out of the west. Thank god this flat spell is over for us for the time being so go get some. I'll have a detailed report tomorrow AM so check back and see the real time updates from out front!

Andy Irons

1978 - 2010

On a more somber note, I am a day late with the news of Andy Irons' passing, and I want to apologize to all of you out there for that. I was searching all day yesterday for the right words to put on this blog, and much to my chagrin, I couldn't. All I know is that surfing lost one of the best. The only one to take down the mighty Slater in his prime, the mayor of pipe and one of the kindest and most generous persons to walk the shores of Kauai. So with that I leave you with the best tribute that I can, compliments of Trans-World Surf and Senior Photographer Brian Bielmann.

Flat

There is basically no surf out front today gang. We are looking at flat to one foot conditions with the wind starting to pick up out of the west. Low tide is right about now and we have a high tide at 5:40 this afternoon. Water is hovering around 55 but the wind is moving so if you need to get wet or go for a paddle make sure you have your boots and gloves. We are still fully stocked with all your accessory needs here at the shop so if you don't have what you need come say hi to James today and he will take care of you!!

Tonight there is going to be a great party over the boarder at the Upper Deck in Salisbury. It is a full on Halloween costume party with prizes for the best costumes. I have been in years past and I can tell you from personal experience that it is a great time. If you haven't been to the Upper Deck before please come check it out. It is a huge bar right on the beach in Salisbury across from our bagel shop "The Surfing Bagel." So if you are looking for "the thing to do" tonight, come on down, have some drinks and laughs, listen to live music and scare the shit out of your friends. I will be there in my costume, so show up and see if your is better than mine. I am willing to bet that it won't be!!!

Again surf is not looking very interesting today, but I would totally understand if you just had to paddle out, so don't be afraid if you want to get wet. Just do it!!!

Well folks there are very small little peelers out front right now. It's looking like shin to knee high sets with a wind out of the west. Low tide was at 10:15 this morning and we have a high at 4:40 this afternoon. I will have more for you as the day rolls on so check back with me later as I have to go unpack boxes of new skate stuff......yes I said new skate stuff. So, check back later today for the blog and keep an eye on it there might be a better wave as the tide fills in at the right spots.

Raddest Family Round

Good morning gang!! There are fun little knee + waves out front right now so I would suggest grabbing your longboard and taking a walk down to the beach, but that's just me. The water is a balmy 55 but the air temp is hovering around 71 so a 3/2 with boots is all you need today. Keep an eye on it this afternoon because there might be a little push coming through and I know after 13 straight days of flatness I am looking for any excuse to get wet. High tide is 3:45 so plan your day accordingly!

So, I feel that it is my duty to introduce all of you to the most radical family I know. This video is one of my extremely good friends Maka and his son Miles. Maka, his beautiful wife Emily and their amazing son Miles live in Colorado and let me tell you, if you want to know how to raise your children, take a page out of their book. Maka has traded in the amazing waves of his home state Hawaii for the mountains of the west, but his surfing spirit lives on! So, without further ado I introduce you to Miles and Maka. Brothers, may your days be filled with rad times and much love. This is a thanks from all of us for keeping it real and setting the bar high for parents of all ages.
